Retired Asset Management Director
Sydney completed three decades of service overseeing management of Kamehameha Schools agriculture and conservation land and natural resource assets statewide. Kamehameha’s asset management team integrated cultural, environmental, community, education and economic values for ‘aina stewardship across the pae ‘aina. The 360,000 acre portfolio encompasses small diversified crop farms, orchards, ranches, watersheds, pristine native forests and sensitive ecosystems. Major efforts included pursuing transition from large-acre mono-crop plantations to small and medium sized farms. Collaborations were pursued with private community and public agency partners to gain natural resource management effectiveness. Sydney continues to serve community organizations building food systems with a focus on the Native Hawaiian lahui. ALP Class XIV alumni.
