Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawai’i, Executive Director June 2006 - present

The ARTS at Marks Garage, Managing Director March 2000 – June 2006

One of two founding partners for an arts based community revitalization project:  Secured site, managed renovations, secured funding and partners, developed day-to-day operations and evaluation plans; developed and implemented projects and programs; supervised staff and volunteers; worked within the community to develop collaborative projects and partnerships. Developed and launched Downtown Gallery Walk and First Fridays-Honolulu. Mentored and coached partners, staff, community members and volunteers in all aspects of developing, managing and maintaining a community arts center, arts programs and nonprofit organizations.

Hawai‘i Craftsmen, Executive Director December 1995 – October 2003

Responsible for overall management and administration of Hawai‘i Craftsmen (a statewide, nationally recognized membership organization) activities in accordance with policies set forth by its volunteer Board of Directors. Using volunteer resources and paid contractors to ensure quality programs are available to members and the community. Developed fundraising strategies and funding proposals and served as the liaison to funding sources and the community, oversaw all day-to-day operations, supervised contractors, coordinated member and public education, and encouraged involvement of volunteers at all levels of Hawai‘i Craftsmen operations. Provided technical assistance and staff support to the Board and its committees as needed.

  Pacific Handcrafters Guild, Administrative Assistant January 1998 – December 2000

Responsible for mail pick up and distribution as well as responding when needed; telephone; membership database management; financial matters including accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly reconciliation and reports; maintaining liability and director and officers insurance; guild members Kaiser medical insurance plan; newsletter; and maintenance of corporate files.

  Small Business Owner, Anuenue Art Services June 1985 – present

Studio work (glass) and services including:  exhibition planning, design and installation; workshop planning and implementation; teaching; commissions for residential and liturgical installations; and planning, accounting, marketing and evaluation of small business on an ongoing basis.

Hawaii State Senate Recognition Award (October 15, 2006) for 10 plus years of service to Hawaii Craftsmen and extremely successful professional career developing successful collaborative projects, including The Arts at Marks Garage and First Friday in Downtown Chinatown.

Bright Ideas Award (July 2006) for parking meter improvement ideas to improve and transform the Chinatown area, as well as strengthen the social network of the community.

10 Who make a Difference (December 28, 2005) from the Honolulu Star Bulletin for organizing art walk and contributing to the revitalization of the emerging arts district in Downtown/Chinatown

Cultural Achievement Award   (August 24, 2005) from the ASID Hawaii Chapter for significant contributions to the advancement of the arts community in Honolulu

Fellowship , Stanford Graduate School of Business / National Art Strategies (Summer 2004) Leadership course work at Stanford Graduate School of Business

ARTS with ALOHA, Committee Member October 2003 - June 2006

Organizational member of group of Public Relations professionals that work together to promote arts and culture venues and activities on Oahu:  Brochure distributions, website, press trips, media blitzes etc

Nuuanu Merchants Association, Board Member January 2003 – June 2006

Secretary, Participated in the formal organization of merchants on Nuuanu Ave. Plan special events to promote the area and increased communication between the various businesses on the Avenue

Hawai‘i Craftsmen, Volunteer Board Member 1991-1995, October 2003– March 2005

Provide continuity for transition to new organizational structure. Treasurer and Chair of Fundraising Committee-2003-2004. Annual Exhibit Co-chair 1992 (25th Anniversary Exhibit), Chair 1993; President 1994-1995: Successful grant writing for Organizational Capacity Building, responsible for training new half-time executive director in all aspects of HC philosophy, policies, operations and programs; planned board retreat focusing on organizational change; implemented change at the board level to reflect new organizational structure; chaired first HC fundraising event---a silent auction.

  Arts Agenda Lobbyist; Committee for Arts and Culture 1994 – 1995 Legislative Session

Extensive lobbing and testifying for the arts community. Co-organizer for the First Annual Arts Day at the Legislature. This group of advocates contributed to the founding of the Hawai‘i Consortium for the Arts.

Artists for a Visual Art Center, Board Member 1990 –1994

Secretary and charter member of a representative group of artists dedicated to founding a world class Visual Art Center for Honolulu. Research and developed the documents for incorporation and nonprofit status with the State of Hawai‘i and the Internal Revenue Service. Non-profit status granted in 1991; organization disbanded in 2003.

Glass Artists of Hawai‘i, Board Member 1986 - 1992

President, Exhibit Chair, Newsletter Editor: Coordinated exhibits, workshops, volunteers, fundraising, publicity and membership activities; compiled news events and opportunities for glass artists in a monthly mailing to 200 members.
