YOUTH LEADERSHIP

ALFH recognizes the importance of educating the next generation of agricultural leaders and works to provide leadership opportunities for students enrolled in local agricultural programs.

Youth Involvement in the Hawai‘i Agriculture Conference

ALFH works with FFA and other agricultural-related youth programs to provide leadership development opportunities as part of the Hawai‘i Agriculture Conference. During the conference, students network with attendees, take part in conference sessions, and participate in special programs. In 2017, over 60 students and their advisors attended the conference where they participated in sessions and hosted a special youth leadership panel. Over 80 students attended the 2019 conference and participated in a special interactive student track and panel presentation. Plans are in place to repeat this level of involvement at future conferences.

ALFH is committed to continuing its work with the next generation and looks forward to growing the youth leadership program.

Youth Scholarship Programs

AFLH has supported scholarships for students interested in pursuing education and training activities aimed at supporting a career in the agricultural sector. With the support of the City and County of Honolulu, ALFH offered scholarships for O‘ahu FFA students to attend the FFA Leadership Conference in Washington, DC in 2015. In addition to attending the conference, scholarship recipients networked with Agricultural Leadership Program Alumni and other agricultural professionals at various events to support their continued interest in agriculture in Hawai‘i. ALFH hopes to provide additional scholarships to students in the future.
